NBC-CAM sponsors the Certified Manager of Community Associations® (CMCA®), a nationally accredited certification program for entry-level community association managers. HumRRO has worked with NBC-CAM since 1995 to ensure that the CMCA® measures the most current and critical knowledges that entry-level managers need to successfully perform the job. When the program launched, HumRRO conducted a systematic role delineation study to identify important job tasks and the knowledges needed to perform those tasks.

We used the results of the study to identify the test content. We worked with subject matter experts to develop and validate an item bank, pilot test the program, and identify a passing standard. HumRRO manages the paper and pencil test administration and partners with a computer-based testing vendor to provide the exam online and on demand.

HumRRO provides ongoing technical support for test development, administration, and scoring. We conduct a role delineation study every five to six years to ensure the relevance and currency of test content. Subject matter experts convene face-to-face or virtually throughout the year to write and review items, construct new test forms, and view test results. As we develop and pilot new items, HumRRO analysts work closely with subject matter experts to identify criterion-related passing standards.

When NBC-CAM began exploring expansion of its programs to International and state-specific settings, HumRRO provided support by investigating feasibility and creating validation and test development strategies. We are currently  finalizing a state-specific item bank in preparation for pilot testing. In 2011, we will launch an international role delineation study.
